Look Mom I’m On TV

Think of the most popular TV news channel in your hometown. Now imagine your hometown is also the biggest city in your country. That’s what CP24 in Toronto is. I can’t explain how many hours I’ve spent watching this channel, either directly or in the background. My first job out of university, they used to play CP24 nonstop on a TV right in front of my desk.

In all those years of my life, I never saw an Indian rapper on there. I don’t think I even saw any Brampton artists on there. And now I can say I’ve done that, paved the way for many more who are sure to come.

This was my first live TV appearance, I announced my headline concert live on air, and the host Sonia cosigned me into winning a Juno (Canadian Grammy). Life is absolutely mad right now.

I Sold Out My Biggest Headline Concert

I have to do a reranking of best days of my life, but this is definitely one of them.

Sold out show (over 200 tickets sold). My first crowd surf (as seen above). I brought my mom on stage for my song “Mom”. I sold my first ever official CDs. I had 3 incredible opening acts all of whom I’ve collaborated with. Brought up 7 features of my own. Lowkey had 2 more guest features and a couple other extra songs I had to scrap because we went over the allotted time. Caught a fine, but had the best time.

Excited to bring this on the road and grow in other cities. Toronto will always be home base, and I’ll continue to push globally. So much more content from this night. We also created a whole documentary connected with the album that premiered at the concert, which will release on YouTube later this week (subscribe here).

Someone who attended told me something magical happened that night. Many others who didn’t attend told me they had unreal FOMO. Don’t miss the next one when I’m in your city.

The Album Placed On Official Editorial Playlists

Official editorial playlisting on Apple Music.

Official editorial playlisting on Amazon Music.

Official editorial playlisting on Audiomack.

Crazy after all these years of no playlisting, I’m finally getting the love I feel I deserve. Somehow most of my listeners are on Spotify and they’re still snubbing me. But between me and you, I’m working out a potential distribution deal so that all might change too in 2025.

For now though, editorial playlisting on 3 different platforms as an independent artist is unreal. All 3 of these happened through 3 different connections that I made happen myself. Being an independent artist and actually succeeding is no joke, but I’m on my way there.

I Attended My First Red Carpet Event

The day after my album released, I attended the Canadian Songwriter’s Hall Of Fame event and walked my first red carpet. I even did my first interview with Billboard Canada.

In the grand scheme this might not mean anything at all, but for me personally, it’s a cool experience that I never would had in my life had I not pursued this music thing. That alone to me is a sign to keep going. So much more on the horizon.

Timberland Gifted Me Custom Biggie Boots

What a moment. Timberlands were popular when I was a kid but couldn’t afford them. Then, in high school, they weren’t popping and I wasn’t brave enough to stand out in any way. In university, they were back in, and I bought my first and only pair. I wore these for several winters, until 2023 when I kicked a freestyle on We Love Hip Hop.

I was in the same Timbs 7 years in a row
Whole time on my grind now I’m gearing to go

Timberland the brand ended up seeing this and sent me some absolute heat, allowing me to finally get rid of my dusty old pair.

Fast forward to this year, where Timberland collaborated with The Notorious B.I.G. brand for the 30th anniversary of Ready To Die. They invited me to pop out, receive my own pair of Biggie Timberland boots, and have them customized with laser engraving.

I ended up putting my own name and the phrase Brooklyn To Brampton on them to commemorate the moment.

My own rap name is inspired by artists like Biggie who I grew up listening to.

What’s the name of my first album again?

Amazing Is Making Waves

Over 20,000 streams on Spotify in just over a month. The perfect song for the clubs or in the shower.

My love for hip hop began in the 2000s with artists like 50 Cent and Eminem. This song was extremely natural to make because it’s the flavor of hip hop that I feel at home in. It’s a blessing that the 2000’s sound is popular again, and I’m excited to add my own spice into the wave. Stay wavy.

Are There Too Many Indians?

Canada has been taking in a high number of immigrants in recent years, more than ever before. Over a million new people per year for a country of only 40 million people.

One thing about immigration is you’re meant to integrate into the culture you are entering. But when you come in big waves, you might not need to and this creates clashes with the current citizens. It’s a sad reality many developed countries will continue to face, but it’s also all connected back to colonialism as problems in other countries have continued since those times. Karma coming back around in its own slow and methodic way.

I don’t appreciate anyone speaking down on my people though, so anytime I see that I have to clap back.

Too Many Indians is a cheeky response to the title itself.
